Recommendations for applying feed supplements to broiler flocks

Suggestions for preventing foot problems

In broilers, more substantial foot problems can be traced back to vitamin deficiencies occurring during the first week of life during the intensive growth period. In affected herds, we recommend administering VITAPLAN DCP at a dose of 400 ml/1000 l of drinking water for 3 days. Thus, we replenish the bodies with vitamin D3, calcium, and phosphorus. Restocking calcium and phosphorus reserves alone is insufficient because vitamin D3 supply is a limiting factor for calcium and phosphorus utilization. When birds receive AMINOVITAPLAN at a dose of 250 ml/1000 l of drinking water during the first 2 days of life, the development of the skeletal system should follow the utilization of the extra nutrients. In this case, we also recommend the use of VITAPLAN DCP with a dose of 300 ml/1000 l of drinking water and VITAPLAN OM with a dose of 250 g/1000 l of drinking water simultaneously on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th days of life. With these products, the same amounts of calcium and phosphorus are introduced to the birds compared to Calgohos, but their utilization is more effective due to the presence of vitamin D3.

Suggestions for reducing feed-change induced stress

Even with the best recipe, changing feeds is a stress factor for birds. In addition to weight loss, indigestion that can, in the worst-case scenario, cause wet litter syndrome beyond the slower weight gain. To prevent this, birds should receive MAGNOPLAN at a dose of 200 ml/1000 l of drinking water for 4 days when changing feeds. The Cu, Mg, as well as the citric acid content of the product, improves the absorption of iron and other microelements in the feed.

Recommendations to prevent the harmful effects of partial pen emptying and other stress-situations

From an animal health perspective, the simultaneous installing and emptying of the pen is the best solution. In practice, emptying at the same time is often impossible, as the largest birds are usually transported at 34-35 days, while the rest only at 40-42 days. This stresses out the remaining stock, which impairs performance indicators. After the removal of larger birds or in the event of any environmental stressor factors, vaccinations, and antibiotic treatments, birds should also receive AMINOVITAPLAN for 2 days at a dose of 500 ml/1000 l of drinking water. This way we can supply the birds with extra nutrients.
